In 2003, The Resort was used as an isolation centre for residents living in the affected area of Tao Da Garden E, which was managed by the Civil Security Team, and suspended its services to holidaymakers from 1 April that year onwards. Two and a half months later, as the outbreak improved and Hong Kong was removed from the list of affected areas by the World Health Organization, all those quarantined at the resort were removed from the quarantine centre on 14 June and transferred to Otsuka to continue their isolation. Since then, the LCSD has conducted extensive cleaning of the resort and has purchased new bedding, including mattresses, bed linen, quilts, pillows and pillowcases, to replace bedding used by isolated persons. After a month of clean-up, the resort reopened for holidaymakers on 14 July 2003.
