Conscious resistance
A client may make a conscious effort to avoid changing his /
her behavior, or receiving any attention or help from an
outsider. His / her conscious resistance may take the form of
the following types of behavior:
openly refusing to cooperate;
denying that he / she is guilty of the accused behavior,
such as elderly abuse, although there is evidence to the
contrary;
putting the blame on to others;
appearing to be very cooperative; but his / her actions
reveal the opposite; or
leaving the community
